Overview
AIGROS is a full-stack smart farming platform consisting of a Flutter mobile app, a Node.js/Express REST API, and ESP32-S3 IoT gateway devices deployed in agricultural fields. Farmers and admins monitor devices in real time, including battery, solar power, signal strength, captured field images, and system alerts, while admins can remotely configure device settings.
The problem
Field devices were generating valuable sensor and image data with no central place for farmers or administrators to monitor them. There was no way to know a device had gone offline, was running low on battery, or had stopped syncing until someone physically checked it in the field, by which point data, and potentially early pest signals, had already been lost.
The solution
We built an end-to-end pipeline from the physical ESP32-S3 device through a REST API into a PostgreSQL database and a Flutter mobile dashboard. Devices sync telemetry and images on a configurable schedule; the app surfaces battery, solar, and signal health as color-coded status, and pushes alerts the moment a device goes offline, drops signal, or fails an upload.
What we built
Role-based dashboard
Admins see every device system-wide; farmers see only the devices assigned to them, enforced at the API query level.
Live telemetry & charts
24-hour and 7-day interactive line charts for signal strength, battery, and solar voltage per device.
Field image gallery
Captured images in a cached, scrollable grid with a fullscreen swipe viewer and per-image capture metadata.
Real-time alert feed
Battery-low, device-offline, upload-failed, firmware-update, and solar-drop alerts with unread tracking and bulk mark-as-read.
Fleet health overview
A summary bar and per-device health cards with color-coded battery status across the entire deployed fleet.
Secure authentication
Account lockout after repeated failed logins with a live cooldown, and encrypted on-device session storage.
Tech stack
Key outcomes
- Built a complete end-to-end IoT pipeline from ESP32-S3 field device to Flutter mobile dashboard, with sensor data, images, and telemetry all flowing through a live REST API into PostgreSQL
- Delivered real-time device monitoring across battery, solar voltage, signal strength, and upload success rate, visualised through interactive charts and health cards
- Designed a low-power field device architecture with configurable wake-up schedules and OTA firmware update support to maximise device lifespan in remote environments
- Role-based access control cleanly separates admin and farmer workflows
- Resolved platform-level build and runtime issues introduced by an SDK update, restoring full compatibility
